Our Story

Hello,

I'm Monica Ontiveros, and my journey with food began in the tiny village of Espinoza, nestled in Michoacan, Mexico, with a population of just 503 residents. In a place that small, everything feels connected, from the rolling hills to each face in the community—and, of course, the food we shared at our tables. Growing up, cheese wasn’t just food; it was part of our family’s identity, a source of pride and warmth that brought us together.

I watched my mother make cheese by hand, using fresh milk from the few cows, goats, and sheep we had. I was fascinated by her skill, by how she could transform that milk into something rich, flavorful, and sustaining. Cheese was often the centerpiece of our family meals, sometimes the only thing we had enough of to share in our family of five. Those early memories taught me that food is about more than nourishment; it’s about love, tradition, and the simple beauty of sharing something crafted with care.

Over the years, my passion for cheese grew, expanding to include other artisanal delights like fine meats and wines. I’ve come to cherish the way cheese and wine can turn a simple gathering into something memorable. I believe that a well-crafted cheese board can do more than satisfy hunger; it can spark stories, laughter, and genuine connections.

Now, as a mother myself, with a toddler who shares my love for cheese and his books, I’m thrilled to pass on the love I grew up with. Every board I create carries a bit of my family’s story, from those small-town roots to the table where we shared so many memories.
